Howard the Duck (Universal, 1986), Poster Concept Art. Original concept art for Lucasfilm's rambunctious superhero comedy Howard the Duck, accomplished with airbrush and mixed media on 30" x 40" artist's board. Depicting Howard's beak as it breaks through planet Earth like a baby chick breaks through its egg, our Howard here bursts through with his signature lit cigar tucked in his mouth. The depiction conceptualized here holds a double meaning, as the film follows Howard as he crash lands onto Earth unexpectedly, wreaking havoc on the human world he finds there. Ultimately, a different although similar version of this design was chosen for the film's one sheet design, abandoning the cracked planet Earth in favor of a cracked egg. This unframed artwork exhibits some signs of wear and age, including bumped corners causing some curling to the painted board and spots of edgewear to the perimeters. Airbrush remains vivid with some mild areas of fade. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
