Big Trouble in Little China (TCF, 1986), Hero Animatronic "Wild Man" Head with Hands and Feet. Original group of (3) items including (1) animatronic head constructed with a fiberglass shell covered in expertly painted silicone, featuring a hinged jaw, resin teeth, resin painted bright yellow/red demon eyes, and punched hair, with attached control cables for movement, mounted on a dense styrofoam and wooden base, (1) pair of expertly painted foam latex booties with yellow spandex ankle coverings, long claws capped with resin nails, and punched hair throughout, and (1) pair of matching expertly painted foam latex hands with internal PVC supports, long resin-capped claws, and punched hair throughout. Pieces range in size from 16" x 7" x 6" to 21" x 20" x 20". Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from the original special makeup effects artist Steve Johnson, who created the creature for the 1986 film, detailing the 2024 faithful restoration of the hero head after the foam latex had deteriorated. A new face was sculpted over the existing fiberglass and animatronic understructure, while the original teeth and eyes were preserved. The "Wild Man," inspired by the Chinese legend of the Yeren, was one of many elaborate creatures featured in John Carpenter's fantasy film. Items exhibit production wear and age, including deterioration to the foam latex components. Mechanicals untested.
