Alien (TCF, 1979; Created 1994), John Alvin 15th Anniversary Poster Preliminary Artwork. Original Alien artwork rendered in charcoal on brown art board with artist's signature "ALVIN" and numbered "1" just below the artwork. Art measures 9.75" x 6.5" and has been framed to a full 17" x 12.25", featuring a 1.5" brushed metal border. Commissioned by Killian Enterprises for the 15th Anniversary of Alien's theatrical release, the piece features a menacing depiction of the titular creature as it stalks the corridors of the U.S.S. Nostromo. This charcoal rendition, originally obtained from the Chuck Jones Studio Gallery Old Town, located in San Diego, California, is a preliminary design study by famed poster artist, John Alvin. The finished poster would ultimately feature Alvin's signature blue and red coloring. Also included with the lot is a 6" x 4" label signed, "To Joe - A Man of Taste & Style! / Thanks!!! / ALVIN", an LOA from Linda Jones Enterprises dated August 4, 2003, and a hardback copy of The Art Of John Alvin.
