Mary Poppins (Walt Disney, 1968), Julie Andrews "Mary Poppins" Petticoat from "Jolly Holiday" Scene. Vintage original full petticoat featuring an attached bodice and slip, constructed of crème silk with a matching fabric lining for comfort. The back fastens with discreet hook-and-eye closures while a voluminous petticoat of layered crème, tan, salmon, pink, and ivory silk and tulle flows from the waist. Each tier is finished with a delicate ribbon of floral lace along the hem. Retains internal Western Costume bias label handwritten "Julie Andrews" and "wire", indicating this costume piece was designed for use with a wire harness, allowing Andrews to float and fly during special effects sequences. Worn by the beloved titular character Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews) beneath her white summer dress, the petticoat can be seen peeking out throughout the iconic "Jolly Holiday" musical number, when Mary, Bert (Dick Van Dyke), and the Banks children leap into a chalk pavement painting to dance and sing among animated characters in one of the film's most magical and memorable scenes. Exhibits some production wear, light staining, age, and minor toning. Some petticoat layers exhibit clean separation at seams.
