FD-19 Janis Joplin w/Big Brother, Bo Diddley 1966 "Dollar Bill" Avalon Concert Poster Graded 9.8. A first-printing San Francisco concert poster for Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Bo Diddley, the Oxford Circle and the Sons of Adam playing at the Avalon Ballroom on Friday and Saturday nights, August 5 & 6, 1966 (two different musicians per night). Known as FD-19 in the Family Dog numbered series and nicknamed "Dollar Bill" (of course), this poster's highly original and eye-catching design was created by Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelley, and has been graded a take-it-to-the-bank 9.8 Near Mint/Mint by the Certified Guaranty Company (CGC).

The Family Dog logo takes center stage on this uniquely thin horizontal layout, and the company's "Baby Jesus" slogan falls into the spotlight. The shape of this poster plays perfectly into advertising two acts on the first night and two other musicians on the second night, an unusual arrangement. Even the money "denominations" in the corners serve as the concert dates for their half of the bill. It's a very clever design, and has always been popular. Each night featured a future member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and with a first-print run of just 1,000, it's a piece that will always be in demand, especially in great condition like this. Measures 20" x 8 3/4". COA from Heritage Auctions.
