Jimi Hendrix Experience 1970 Madison, WI Concert Poster. An original concert-advertising poster from the spring of 1970 for the Jimi Hendrix Experience playing at the Dane County Memorial Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday evening, May 2, 1970. Oz was the opening act, and the crowd was about 5,000. This was Jimi's 1970 trio which consisted of Billy Cox on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, calling themselves Cry of Love. But concert promoters continued to call them the "Experience" until the very end, surely feeling it would sell more tickets.
Features quite a compelling drawing of Jimi as the centerpiece artwork, with the opening act worked into his scarf. Interesting how the show was co-promoted by a New York firm, and the sound was done by McCune from San Francisco. It's original art like this, usually created locally and used only once, that makes collecting Hendrix from his brief career so interesting and compelling. This poster's provenance is great, too: it originated with the show's promoter. Measures 18" x 24" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition.
