Jimi Hendrix Experience 1968 Toronto, Canada Poster Signed by Gary Grimshaw, Graded 9.8. An original first-and-only-printing concert poster for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Soft Machine and the Paupers performing at the CNE (Canadian National Exposition) Coliseum Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Saturday evening, February 24, 1968. Promoted by Detroit's Russ Gibb and illustrated by the same city's Gary Grimshaw, this beauty has been signed in silver ink by Grimshaw in the lower right. It was then graded a shagadelic 9.8 Near Mint/Mint by CGC (Certified Guaranty Company).
Although Jimi's new album
Axis: Bold as Love had entered
Billboard's album chart two weeks earlier, he played only one song from it: "Spanish Castle Magic." Instead, the Experience continued to lean heavily on their timeless first album,
Are You Experienced?, playing seven songs from it: "Hey Joe," "Foxy Lady," "The Wind Cries Mary," "Manic Depression," "I Don't Live Today," "Red House" (on the U.K. edition only) and "Purple Haze." Tonight's set was rounded out by covers of the Troggs' "Wild Thing" and Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." Measures a shade over 13" x 22".
