Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane 1968 Newport Pop Festival Concert Poster. An original before-show concert poster for the First Annual Newport Pop Festival taking place in Costa Mesa (Orange County), California on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 & 4, 1968. In retrospect, the Grateful Dead were the biggest attraction of course, but novelty act Tiny Tim was hot as a pistol at this moment, so there he is, up in the Saturday headlining spot.
Other bands involved included the Jefferson Airplane (closing the weekend late Sunday afternoon), Sonny & Cher, Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf, Eric Burdon and the Animals, The Byrds, Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Butterfield Blues Band and many others.
