Bob Dylan 1964 Berkeley, CA Folk-Music Concert Poster Graded 9.0 (AOR-1.102). An original cardstock window card advertising Bob Dylan performing in the San Francisco Bay Area for the very first time, at the Community Theater in Berkeley, California on Saturday evening, February 22, 1964. This poster is unusual in many ways, including the fact that it appeared in the
Art of Rock book. Features a highly offbeat design reflecting the iconoclastic nature of the Bay Area's emerging youth movement before psychedelic posters started appearing. Mary Ann Pollar was the local promoter.
Dylan had just released his third album,
The Times They Are A-Changin', two weeks before this show, and his name was on everybody's lips from those in the know. Talk about a scarce piece: Only two specimens of this poster have ever been graded by CGC, and both of them wound up in the David Swartz collection. This one's been graded a very respectable 9.0 Very Fine/Near Mint by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company). Measures 17" x 11".
