Prince Reel-to-Reel Demo Tape with Tracklist Written in His Own Hand (circa 1976/77). Offered here is an incredible rarity, an early Prince demo tape. Recorded on reel-to-reel before he was signed, the tape - in a box with the tracklist and Prince's name written in black felt-pen by his own hand - contains three songs. The first two, "Just as Long as We're Together" and "My Love Is Forever," would go on to be re-recorded for his debut album, For You, while the third is an instrumental track titled "Jelly Jam" which was later reworked into part of "Just as Long..." For those aching to hear this early work of the musical pioneer but don't have a reel-to-reel, a CDR of the songs comes with the demo for your listening pleasure! Also included is an empty reel-to-reel box, designed by Prince himself to be sent to various labels. On the front of the box is an early photo of the enigmatic Pop icon, with his name above. The verso features a typed tracklist, which consists of the two album tracks mentioned above, as well as "Soft & Wet," "Baby," and "We'll Make it Through the Storm." Prince (born Prince Rogers Nelson, June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016) was so much more than a Pop star, or even a gifted multi-instrumentalist; he was a true musical innovator. His catchy, genre-defying mixture of Rock, Funk, Soul, and Pop changed the musical landscape of a generation. Against major labels he fought hard for complete control of his music, his vision, and he won. His image and style was androgynous, often controversial, and undeniably unique. There will never be another like him. Though Prince is gone, long may the purple Reign!
