Marian Marsh and Clifford Henderson Personal Letters and Signature Book. Although film star Marian Marsh and aviation pioneer and Palm Desert founder Clifford Henderson married in 1960, their friendship went back decades. This lot contains a letter dated June 26, 1936 on National Air Races stationery, reading: "Dear Marian Just a note to tell you that a certain busy aviator will be flying west today and will be looking forward to seeing you..." and signed "Cliff." Also included is a 1970 letter from Donald Douglas (founder of Douglas Aircraft) regarding an air show and a signature book presented to Henderson for his birthday in 1975, including the signatures of General James Doolittle (the aviation legend and Medal of Honor winner for the Doolittle Raid in World War II), John K. Northrop (co-founder of Lockheed Aircraft and founder of Northrop Aircraft), famed racing pilot Jacqueline Cochran, air racing husband and wife Jimmy and Mae Haizlip, and Dick Merrill, who flew the first round-trip trans-Atlantic flight in 1936.
