Beatles/John Lennon Related "John Sinclair" Lyrics Handwritten by Sinclair. An 11" x 14" sheet of light cardstock with the lyrics for Lennon's 1972 single "John Sinclair" handwritten by Sinclair in black ink. Released as the eighth track on the Some Time in New York City LP, the song was written about the poet, activist, and one-time MC5 manager and his being sentenced to ten years in prison for marijuana possession in 1969. Lennon, Yoko Ono, Stevie Wonder, Allen Ginsberg, Abbie Hoffman, and others organized and performed at the "Free John Now Rally" in December 1971; three days later, Sinclair was released from prison when the Michigan Supreme Court ruled the state's marijuana statutes unconstitutional. An intriguing piece of '70s history, in Excellent condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Roger Epperson/REAL.
