Description
Boris Karloff Related - Condolence Telegrams to Mrs. Boris Karloff. This lot contains ten telegrams to Mrs. Boris Karloff, following the death of her celebrated husband on February 2, 1969. The telegrams come from "Vincent and Mary" (Price), Red and Georgia Skelton, Mrs. C. Aubrey Smith, R.F. Dunham (manager of the Boris Karloff Wax Museum in Niagara Falls, Canada), "Peter and Polly" (Bogdanovich), Katharine Cornell, Charlton Heston (for the Board of Directors of the Screen Actors Guild), Marjorie Corso, Tony Tenser, and Sara Karloff. Mrs. Karloff marked each telegram with a small check mark, probably to indicate she had responded to them. Emotions expressed in the telegrams give eloquent evidence of how very beloved a man Boris Karloff truly was. Also included and in a lighter vein: a typed copy of a satirical poem about stage producers Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, who produced Karloff's Broadway triumph Arsenic and Old Lace. Very Good condition. From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection. Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from Sara Karloff Sparkman.Heritage Auctions provides detailed information when available but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
