Boris Karloff's Personal Script Pages for Flair. Even the most ardent Karloff fans have forgotten (or perhaps were never aware) that the star recorded daily spots for the radio show Flair. The years were 1960 and 1961 and the topics of Karloff's one-minute chats were family and child care. This collection of 25 script pages include 18 different spots, concerning such topics as Groundhog's Day, Friday the 13th and superstitions (he warns against their potential impact on "youthful imaginations"), the birth of Abraham Lincoln, Christmas thank-you letters, and babies who bite. There is considerable annotation by Karloff in pen and pencil, notably in which words and phrases to emphasize in his readings. It's fun to imagine Hollywood's Horror King delivering these prosaic lessons; also notable is the Groundhog's Day entry, since Karloff had a special fondness for the Groundhog legend - died on Groundhog's day, 1969.
