Description

Gibson Octobass Modified Country Gentleman Guitar Owned and Played by Chet Atkins (1991) Condition: Excellent.
This modified, hybrid bass and guitar Country Gentleman features two larger bass strings in the fifth and sixth positions, tuned an octave lower than standard guitar strings. The first four strings are tuned normally. Chet used this interesting instrument while recording the humorous song "I Still Write Your Name in the Snow" for his live album Almost Alone - it sounds like two players on this track, but it's all Chet, playing both the bass and guitar parts simultaneously. The guitar has the serial number 92721473, and is stamped "Promotional, Not For Resale" on the back of the headstock. Comes with a contoured case. From the Russ Cochran Guitar Archive.
