Description

Gretsch Country Gentleman Owned and Played by Chet Atkins (1971) Condition: Very Good.
Chet began designing guitars with the Gretsch Company, and this was his Signature series, the Country Gentleman. This particular model is a double cutaway beauty with mahogany finish and gold hardware, complete with a Bigsby swivel-arm tailpiece. Chet used this guitar himself for many personal appearances and tours, including several TV appearances; it was later presented to Chet's sideman, Paul Yandell, who signed the guitar under the pad on the back. A few areas of the body binding have cracked, but the body itself is nicely preserved for a well-used instrument. This guitar has the serial number 871073, and is featured with a full-page photo in Russ Cochran's book, Chet Atkins - Me and My Guitars, page 91. It comes with a Gretsch hardshell case. From the Russ Cochran Guitar Archive.
