Description
Edie Adams Screen Worn Swimsuit. Edie Adams, originally known as Edythe Adams, got her start in show biz in 1950, winning the title Miss WPIX and then going on to be chosen Miss U.S. Television wearing this black satin strapless swimsuit with back zipper. The prizes included an appearance with Milton Berle and as she later recalled "I was permitted to sing so long as I wore a bathing suit." This appearance in turn led to an invitation to appear with the comedian, her future husband, Ernie Kovacs. Serving her well as she broke into show business, the swimsuit is in Fine condition, the cup filling is desiccating with some pressure pulls along the waist. Accompanying the lot are swimsuit-clad images of Edie, the original accompanying card board sign "Miss U.S. Television c/o WPIX New York 17" and a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.Heritage Auctions provides detailed information when available but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
