Agatha Christie Signed Letter to Billy Wilder. South Devon, December 11 (no year), two pages (front and reverse of personal letterhead), 5.5" x 7". This is a rare handwritten letter with excellent content from a great mystery and crime writer to an equally brilliant film director regarding his 1958 screen adaptation of her 1948 short story "The Witness for the Prosecution" (which she had reworked for the stage in 1953). Christie writes: "Dear Billy Wilder/Larry Bachman tells me that you never heard whether I liked your picture Witness for the Prosecution. Well - I did. What's more - I enjoyed it - a thing I never...did to when seeing a film made from one of my books! You did a wonderful job and I admire that film very much still. Most people do. So let me make amends. Yours, Agatha Christie". In Fine condition with original folds, one staple and one hole punch in top margin. From the Billy Wilder Archive.
