Description

Ernie Kovacs' Personally Designed Poker Table with Chairs. Kovacs spent many a notorious night at this poker table -- and lost a fortune in the process -- playing cards with friends Dean Martin, Tony Curtis, Peter Lawford, Richard Conte, and others. Specifically designed by Kovacs, the round wood gaming table has a center pedestal of four intricate columns which were originally much shorter; according to Edie Adams, the table was delivered to Kovacs at cocktail height, fifteen inches off the floor. Ernie promptly sent it back to its maker, demanding the table be high enough to accommodate his chairs, his poker buddies, and his growing "affinity" for the game. The table stands 27" in height and approximately 54" in diameter, and the the five accompanying chairs (upholstered in leather) stand 33" in height. All are in Very Fine to Excellent condition, and though the tabletop shows signs of wear, what a story it could tell if only it could talk! Requires third party shipping. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
