Michael Jackson Thriller In-House Gold and Platinum Album Award Presented to Fred Astaire. In just over a year, Thriller became the best-selling album of all time, with sales currently estimated to be well above 45 million copies worldwide. It reached number one in the US and the UK simultaneously -- the first album to do so -- and seven of its nine songs became Top 10 singles. This one-of-a-kind in-house award commemorated the sale of more than four million copies of the 1984 LP, as well as more than one million copies each of the the chart-topping singles "The Girl Is Mine", "Billie Jean", and "Beat It". The award features a plaque bearing the Epic Records logo and the inscription: "Presented to Fred Astaire, My Hero/Love, Michael Jackson". The award is encased in a 16.25" x 36.25" x 2" shadow box presentation and is in overall Excellent condition.
