Description

Charlie Chaplin Signed Photo. A fantastic vintage b&w 7" x 9" photo of a very young, pre-motion picture Chaplin, inscribed "To Mr. and Mrs. Hurley/With every good wish. Yours to a turn/Charles Chaplin/November 28th, 1913" in blue ink. The photo also bears a second inscription, "Charles Chaplin/good luck" in blue ink near the lower right corner. The date corresponds closely to the time when Chaplin was discovered by Mack Sennett and began his journey to film stardom and icon status. The photo is in Good to Very Good condition with pieces missing from the corners, mild toning, a small hole near the bottom edge, tape residue to the edges, and some general wear and tear -- little of which affects the signatures. It is accompanied by a b&w 3" x 5" postcard bearing a photo portrait of Chaplin, in Good condition with some wear, glue stains, and remnants of cardboard matting. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
