Description

Sharon Tate Signed Letter with Envelope. A poignant letter sen by an 11-year-old Sharon Tate to her beloved grandmother, whom she called "Nannie." Sharon's hand-addressed envelope, postmarked Aug. 16, 1954 in Pasadena, Texas, bears six red lipstick kisses -- "your old lipstick" she writes to Nannie in pencil on the back of the envelope. She also pencils on the envelope, "Please don't let anyone read." In the enclosed letter on 7" x 8.5" lined paper, Sharon pours out her heart to Nannie, punctuating her penciled sentiments with multiple exclamation points: "Dear Nannie I wish you were here again I had so much fun! when ! I'm! around! You! And I never! Want to! leave! you! Nannie when I phoned you Sunday I was crying because you were gon [sic] and I cryed [sic] the rest of the night because I love! You! so! much..." Sharon promises to make Nannie "the prettiest jewelry box" with "the biggest yellow roses on it," asks her grandmother to visit again, and concludes, "Nannie I love you better than anyone in this hole [sic] World. Love! With!out! End! Sharon." On the reverse Sharon writes "please write back," then adds, "Kissis!" [sic] - with over 60 "X" marks -- and "I love you." Letter and envelope are in Excellent condition. A highly personal and heartfelt item, giving ample insight into Sharon Tate's young emotions. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
