George Barris' XPAK 400 Scrapbook. Originally for a New York auto show in 1960, Barris' experimental XPAK 400 hover car drew attention away from the latest Detroit designs and ultimately won numerous awards on the show circuit. A futuristic machine with huge fins, white Metalflake finish, neon lights, and and a fan system that gave it five inches of lift, it represented an early benchmark in Barris' career as a custom car designer. This large 60-page scrapbook, from Barris' personal collection, contains numerous b&w photos, newspaper clippings, magazine covers and articles, and other items pertaining to the legendary vehicle. The front cover of the scrapbook has detached and the edges exhibit mild to moderate wear, but the contents are in Very Fine to Excellent condition with some instances of mild wear.
