Description
Motown: James Jamerson Original Motown Bass Recording Score - "Since I Lost My Baby" (The Temptations). After nearly 40 years, a group of Motown recording scores from the 60's surfaced in Detroit. All were used to record top ten Temptations' hits, all were entirely original and with the finest provenance. And this one was the best: the score used by legendary James Jamerson, the father of the electric bass, to record "Since I Lost My Baby" in early 1965. This was a case of the perfect song, the perfect arrangement, the perfect performance. Jamerson, whose reputation continues to grow since his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2000, appeared on over 70 number one hits on the soul and pop charts, more top hits than the Beatles and Madonna put together! And to salvage the score of one of his masterpieces, "Since I Lost My Baby" recorded by the Temptations, is pure serendipity in a world where these scores were often discarded. This Jamerson bass score is a beautiful lightly marked bi-fold reflecting the practice of the "Funk Brothers" to let the father of the electric bass use the written riffs as a springboard to his lightning fast improvisational talent. Framed and matted to the highest standard. From the files of famed Motown Musical Director Cornelius Grant. Framed dimensions: 18 x 29-3/4.Heritage Auctions provides detailed information when available but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
