Description:
The Iconic 1949 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Car from "Rain Man." United Artists, 1988. A two-door convertible, beige exterior paint, red leather interior, Straight-8 Fireball 8 cylinders, 320 c.u. inches engine size, 2-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission, with a modified rear suspension to hold the extra weight of the camera equipment plus the cameraman (when he had to shoot while sitting in the trunk); one of two identical cars used throughout the film. Interestingly, the whole plot revolves around this car, and its presence in almost every scene makes it the third important "character" after actors Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, the latter of whom won a 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' Oscar for his portrayal of the autistic "Raymond Babbit." Included are a number of pieces of paperwork showing that this car was rented and used by MGM/UA for the film.

PLEASE NOTE:
This car will NOT be on display at Heritage's Dallas office as it is stored in Sacramento, California. If you would like to see this car in person in Northern California, please call Margaret Barrett at (310) 492-8631 to make arrangements.

Also, if you are the successful bidder, it will be your responsibility to retrieve the car from Sacramento, California yourself. Heritage Auctions will NOT be responsible for shipping this car to you.
