Description:
Ernie Kovacs' "Percy Dovetonsils" Glasses. He was the most famous (notorious?) of Ernie Kovacs' wickedly funny alter egos: Percy Dovetonsils, the eternally soused poet who sported two spit curls, a zebra smoking jacket, and those very bizarre spectacles, all the while sipping a martini (with a flower floating in it) as he soulfully lisped such self-created poems as "Ode to a Housefly" (aka "Philosophical Ruminations on a Beastie in the Booze"). Politically correct? Hardly, but Ernie's Percy was flamboyantly unforgettable, and his goo-goo eyes were perhaps his most memorable feature, twinkling behind those brown frame glasses.

Now Heritage offers Percy Dovetonsils' glasses - and eyes. The eyes are actually a part of the glasses, and have tiny holes so Ernie's Percy could see (and flirt) with the camera, and the eye color is a blend of black, blue, and a smashing violet.

Also included is a 2.5" x 8" white box for the glasses, on which Edie Adams had written "Percy Glasses", and three photos of Ernie as Percy. All items are in Excellent condition.

The Percy Dovetonsils eyes/glasses are a genuine artifact of TV comedy history. Win this bid, wear these glasses, and you too may soon be sipping a flowery martini and sensitively reciting "Leslie the Mean Animal Trainer". From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
