Beatles Signed Please Please Me Mono UK First Pressing LP (Parlophone PMC 1202, 1963). Most collectors would be hard-pressed to name a Beatles item more desirable than a signed first pressing of their groundbreaking first UK album. Those same collectors would be even more hard-pressed to find a nicer example than the one offered here. All four of the lads from Liverpool have neatly penned their autographs on the back cover. Paul, George, and John have signed in the white area at the top and Ringo has signed just below in the Tony Barrow-written liner notes, but with excellent contrast. It was standard procedure in Britain at this time for albums to be signed on the back because the fronts were coated with a slick paper that ink didn't adhere to well.Please Please Me was quickly released on March 22, 1963, in the UK to capitalize on the success of singles "Please Please Me" and "Love Me Do." This album was the first of what would be many groundbreaking, chart-topping LPs released by the Beatles over a short by productive seven year period. Even after fifty years, It continues to score high on numerous Greatest Song and Greatest Album lists (including the #39 spot on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list). This includes the original record with the highly-desirable gold on black label. Don't miss out on this one. It might be a long time before another one this nice will become available.
