Description
Steve Marriott's 1957 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 7-8756. Small Faces and Humble Pie guitarists and vocalist Steve Marriott's personal guitar with provenance from the family. Guitar has been re-necked following a break while touring in Texas in 1969. Middle pickup has been replaced with a tortoise cover as seen in photos during Humble Pie performances. Original middle P.A.F. is in the case. Original tail piece, ABR-1 bridge, switch tip, poker chip and knobs. Original Grover screw holes under finish on headstock. Schaller style tuners currently installed. Replaced neck has no dot in "I" of Gibson corresponding with a 1969 re-neck. Non-original bone nut. Original serial number is inked in an unusual style from Gibson would have normally done. Both remaining pickups are P.A.F. and all 3 have stickers. Frets are original to replaced neck and show moderate wear. Several replaced plate and pickup ring screws. Several replacement parts are included in the case as well as a photo of Marriott playing the guitar with Humble Pie. Jerry Shirley drummer for Humble Pie has also viewed the photos and verified that this is the guitar Steve used from the early 70's on. A very unique instrument that must be seen to be appreciated. Humble Pie road case included. Condition: Good.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
